In an attempt to quash those gay rumours once and for all, Guy Sebastian has married “long-time love” Jules Egan. In September 2006, the original Australian Idol winner revealed he was on the verge of quitting the industry after relentless scrutiny over his sexuality and other matters that are no one’s business but his own.

To then flog the exclusive rights for all the wedding details (bar some, I hope) to New Idea - who did him no favours by picking up the story and running with it - for $200,000 seems a bit hypocritical. But hey, that money would go some way to easing the pain of being slandered to his fan base of retirees and stay-at-home mums.

Of course, I wouldn’t be quite so greedy. Feel free to slander me for ten bucks and a nice MLT - mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, when the mutton is nice and lean, and the tomato is ripe. They’re so perky. I love that.

Yeah, right. No one who knows Guy ever considered for a second that he might be gay. Stop perpetuating a myth started by cretins for … who knows?

The wedding must have cost a bit - Guy very sensibly made a business decision and got some help to pay for it.

    Get over it.

Congratulations to a gorgeous couple. They’ve been together so long it’s about time they tied the knot. I personally am looking forward to seeing the New Idea article - and I’m certainly not a retiree or stay at home mum! As for the payament, it wouldn’t surprise me if Guy donates it to charity, something he does quite a lot.

Gee wizz. There is a great deal of difference between selling the rights to a wedding than having to read reports and listen to people calling you are gay when you are not. So many celebrities sell the rights to their weddings. What is the difference if Guy does the same.

Incidentally you can add some men to that list of fans for Guy Sebastian. Try Steve Cropper and Donald “Duck” Dunn, soul legends no less. They just came out to Australia to tour with him. Why? In Steve Cropper’s own words he “blew their socks off” when he went to Memphis last year to record with them. They also said they will drop everything to tour with him in the States. They had a ball being part of his backing band in his sell out tour across Australia.

And having had the pleasure of being in the audience for 3 of those concerts I can tell you the audience was pretty mixed both in age and gender.

I have never understood the gay rumours - I am a chick and me and my sis just luv Guy Sebastian and would marry him in a heart beat - he is a chick magnet - just ask Jennifer Hawkins - Miss Universe who always has her hands all over him in photographs - hanging on his arm and stuff - leaning into him when talking to him in pics - OMG I wish I could get that close!!!

So glad that Guy is doing the magazine spread to share some of his Wedding with me. I have a scrap book of mag and paper clippings I have built up over 5 years.

I have followed Guy’s career since I was in mid teens and now five years later I am older of course but that doesnt make me ‘a stay at home mum or retiree’ just coz I am still loyal and passionate about a sublime entertainer like Guy Sebastian.

It’s pretty obvious you know nothing about Guy, so what’s your point?
Guy usually donates any payment from magazines to charity. Why not accept the money this time?
People who know him,or are fans love him,as know he’s not gay & are really interested in reading about the wedding. You will have realised how popular he is by the attention you’re getting on this mindless blog.

Ok, settle down everyone. The Guy Sebastian post, like all of my posts, was very tongue-in-cheek. My sarcastic point was two-fold: 1) he’s obviously not gay, and 2) women’s gossip magazines are the toilet reading of the devil. I may have been a bit harsh when describing a typical Guy Sebastian fan, but hey, it’s my blog and I’ll broadly generalize if I want to. And, by way of an apology, I have to say I may not have a Guy Sebastian album, but I can honestly say I think he’s by far the most talented artist to emerge from Australian Idol.

  7. Toni Says:

Hi Torrie :) you should get yourself a copy of the Memphis Album, you might be surprised at how really talented this Guy is and not just emerging out of Australian Idol but out of Australia period. The Memphis Album is being released in the US and globally, in 2009.

May I be a bit devilish here and say that the New Idea Magazine is out tomorrow May 26 with the official Wedding photos in it! Can’t wait Torrie :)
