AC/DC Set Ticket Sale Record

AC/DC set a new (Australian) record for first day box office takings, moving 500,000 tickets worth over $60 million.

It was also the biggest first day sales for the Ticketek agency, which sold AC/DC tickets in Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane. You could not get a ticket in Sydney after 12 minutes! At the peak of demand, Ticketek was selling 3,400 tickets per minute!

Incidentally,  AC/DC’s own ageing school-boy Angus Young just missed out on being included in BRW’s Rich 200 list. His fortune is estimated at $125 million.
