Splendour In The Grass 2010 moving to Woodford

Organisers of the popular Splendour In The Grass festival have been trying to secure a new permanent site in Byron Bay for the past few years.

They’ve chosen the 660 acre parklands site at Yelgun in the Byron Shire, and are going through the process of getting approval for a permanent cultural event venue with the NSW Department of Planning. That won’t be done in time for next year’s event.

So the Splendour people have just announced that the 10th anniversary festival in 2010 will relocate to Woodford in Queensland, home of the Woodford Folk Festival.

They’ll also expand the festival to a 3 day event from Friday July 30th to Sunday August 1st.

One of the Splendour team Jessica Ducrou says “Woodford Folk Festival and their beautiful site Woodfordia have been a great source of inspiration to us and we feel honoured to borrow their home. Given the size of the venue we will be able to accommodate almost all festival patrons in camping grounds onsite, giving more people the full festival experience. The purpose built venue also means that we can incorporate a broader range of arts and cultural experiences, which we have been wanting to do for many years”.
